If you’re not already aware, a critical hotfix has been issued for all versions of Draftsight between 2012 and 2017. If not installed, Draftsight will fail to run after March 1, 2017.
There is also a new version, Draftsight 2017 SP0, which seems to experience far fewer crashes than its previous versions. For maximum effect, it would be ideal in many scenarios to go ahead and deploy both the new version and hotfix.
Unfortunately, the hotfix doesn’t seem to include any silent install parameters. This is easily gotten around however.
While the following commands will work in a script, I recommend using PDQ by Admin Arsenal to deploy both Draftsight and the hotfix.
First, download the new version and extract the files. You’ll want to find and run the DraftSight.msi file with the /passive parameter.
Next, download the hotfix and extract the files. Navigate to Files\x642017SP0\DDKERNEL.dll and then copy it out via the File Copy step in PDQ to C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\DraftSight\bin and overwrite the old DDKERNEL.dll file.
If you’re not installing the new version of Draftsight, simply find the corresponding folder version in the extracted hotfix files and copy that file instead.
